Over a career spanning more than two decades, Greg Minnaar has secured four UCI Downhill World Championships, three World Cup overall titles, and holds the record for the most men's World Cup wins with 22 career victories. In 2024 he joined forces with Norco Factory Racing and developed a downhill cockpit with Cast. After 25 years at the pinnacle of the sport, he remains dedicated to developing cutting edge components and mentoring emerging talent.
Building the Ultimate Cockpit Setup
I'm really particular about cockpit setup, so when I moved to Norco it was a great time to work on a cockpit and take it to the team. It was super important to develop a family of cockpit components that allow us to quantify the setup so we could dial things in accurately in a repeatable way, while also feeling right in terms of compliance and geometry.
DFX Stem
The markings on this stem allow us to measure and record bar roll precisely, facilitating clear communication of any adjustments between the rider and mechanic. This is really important, as even a minor change in bar roll can significantly affect how the bike feels.
Bamba Grip
For me, it's essential to have a grip that balances excellent feedback with comfort—allowing me to feel the bar's end and other features clearly while ensuring enough comfort for long runs.
SFX Handlebars
We spent a lot of time dialling in the geometry of these bars to strike the perfect balance of strength and feedback. The markings enable precise recording of lever positions, making it easier to fine-tune and replicate the setup consistently.
